Trinity Anglican 175 anniversary

1836 - 2011    Preparing for our 175th Anniversary

On May 22, 2011, Trinity will celebrate the 175th anniversary of services in the church Colonel Mahlon Burwell built in his village on the bluffs of Lake Erie.

Mark your calendar now for special events. Check out our special anniversary events listing.

If you have photographs of the church, events or parishioners, or memories of your family's connection with Trinity, we would love to include them in the historical booklet we are compiling for 2011. Mailed-in photos will be returned, if you include your return address. If you have a digital (scanned) copy, you may e-mail it to us.

photo of Trinity Anglican Church Port Burwell Trinity Anglican Church is a beautiful, historic church that is known for its warm atmosphere and its welcoming and friendly people. Weekly services are open to everyone, and many cottagers and campers choose to attend Trinity during their time in Port Burwell. The church is also a popular wedding site.

photo of Trinity Anglican Church The church was built by Colonel Mahlon Burwell. It is currently part of a 3-point charge along with St. Luke’s in Vienna, and Trinity Church in Aylmer. Surrounding the church is a historic cemetery in which the earliest burial is recorded as 1818. Both regular and cremation burial plots are still available and open to all faiths. Trinity is located in the lakeside community of Port Burwell, Ontario Canada.

This quaint little village is a very popular summer spot for people enjoying the beautiful beaches (east and west) and for those choosing to stay at a local bed and breakfast, or cottage, or camp at the Port Burwell Provincial Park. Boaters, fishing enthusiasts, swimmers, sunbathers, volleyball players, windsurfers, kayakers and others find this a wonderful place in which to spend time. Other local attractions - besides the marine museum and the lighthouse - include sixty-six (66) wind turbines that dot the shoreline. To learn about our community check out the Visitors’ Guide.
